Following the Rhythm series, the Exaltation series continues Karena's long-standing interest in dance that sits at the core of this body of work. The sensation and experience of physical release and enjoyment through dance provides the inspiration for exploring the notion of movement and how air shifts as it plays on the body in motion. Bold base colour and metallic paint evoke a lit or darkened stage capturing the performer at their most athletic state. Layers of paint are then intuitively overlaid; the aim being to create the sense of a body being somehow drawn through space.
