Karena has always been creative and comes from a long line of artisans and makers who have generously shared their knowledge and skills with her. When earning a living and raising a family had to take precedence over developing her art practice, she always had at least one or two 'projects' on the go at any one time. Leisure time is often spent gardening or designing gardens, or working on crochet, ceramics, tapestry or singing and playing guitar. Quilting has also been a long time pursuit as and when Karena has had time available.

As her extended family has grown, many nephews and nieces have received quilts on the birth of their own children. The following is a selection of quilts made over the years.
